posted 01/12/2010 Windham Baseball/Softball is pleased to announce that new for this year we will be offering a Girls Teeball program. The Girls Teeball program is for girls only, but the existing program can accommodate both girls and boys. You’ll notice this registration distinction when registering your son/daughter online. Girls who have been previously registered under the regular "Teeball" registration will be notified when their registration is moved to the "Girls Teeball". You will have to request your daughter to be moved to the "Boys Teeball".
Other distinctions between Girls and Boys Teeball are girls will play with yellow softballs instead of white teeball baseballs. Also, since Girls Teeball falls under Babe Ruth program, the eligible age chart is slightly different than Boys Teeball which falls under the Little League guidelines. Lastly, girls hitting helmets will be required to have a face guard/mask.
The Teeball season usually runs from late April through June. Specific dates will be available when the schedule is posted. Games won't be played over the Memorial Day weekend. Teams will play twice per week with one 6pm game during the week and a Saturday game that will be played between 8:30am and 3pm. Games are played at Griffin Park and Nashua Road Field. Also, Teeball practices may be scheduled prior to the season, but usually won't be scheduled during the season. Some coaches and teams may deviate from this at their discretion. However, attendance is obviously at parent's discretion.
There are no tryouts for Teeball so teams are generally built around neighborhoods. Hats and jerseys are supplied by the league. A baseball glove is the only required equipment as helmets, bats, balls etc are provided by the league. Some parents choose to outfit their children with baseball pants and cleats, but this is certainly not required. All kids play and bat every game so the focus is on skill development and having fun. Teeball players generally hit from the tees for the first half of the season. However, some teams may deviate from this and offer live coach-pitching for more skilled and second year Teeballers.
Helping your child stay focused, particularly when in the field, is the greatest challenge for coaches. Please be mindful of this as the season begins as it helps to ensure a good, safe experience for all.
You should expect to hear from a coach in early April. Please contact Mark Bermingham at
with additional questions or if you’re interested in coaching a team.
Stay tuned…
